brussels with muscles
the way water rests on brussel sprout leaves is very cool, so I took pictures of it
In my second year of gardening I decided to grow brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts are one of those vegetables I had never ever thought about the way they grew or what the actual plant looked like until I saw them growing in aunt’s garden last year. And they look like they belong in the world of dr seuss. especially once you start clipping the leaves off to expose the sprouts growing on the stalk.
My brussel sprout plants are not to the point of leaf clipping just yet, I think. But my favorite parts of about these plants so far is just how huge their leaves grow, and how water just seems to rest in perfectly round droplets or in self contained puddles on those enormous leaves. It’s pretty crazy to see the surface tension of these tiny pools so clearly, and when the sun hits them just right the leaves almost look bejeweled. So I took some pictures to document it, and a few of my favorites are below with more linked here.
